Welcome to the Temple of the People!

The University Center Gallery is a spacious and lovely venue. Designed as an art gallery in the 1970's, it is situated in a grove of eucalyptus and pine trees in the town of Halcyon. It is owned and supported by The Temple of the People. Barbara Ricardo and Linda Rollison, gallery directors, were inspired to mount a series of shows of work by local artists, celebrating the tremendous fund of talent and skill that exists in SLO county and environs, and that is largely unknown and unseen. Agreeing that art is an essential part of life and that works of art are meant to be seen, the directors endeavor to make the gallery a center for all kinds of artistic expressions.
EVOLUTION opened Saturday, November 18, 2006 with an artists' reception, including refreshments, from 2-4 pm. Artists included Charles DeCola, Madonna Dunbar, Amelia Free, John Girod, Rick London, and Sherry Walden. The gallery will be open to the public from 2-4 pm for a week after the opening, and then every Saturday afternoon, or by appointment.
Gallery hours were from 2 to 4 pm daily November 18~26, 2006, and, after that, Saturdays only through February 17, 2007.
