Welcome to the Temple of the People!

The University Center Gallery is a spacious and lovely venue. Designed as an art gallery in the 1970's, it is situated in a grove of eucalyptus and pine trees in the town of Halcyon. It is owned and supported by The Temple of the People. Barbara Ricardo and Linda Rollison, gallery directors, were inspired to mount a series of shows of work by local artists, celebrating the tremendous fund of talent and skill that exists in SLO county and environs, and that is largely unknown and unseen. Agreeing that art is an essential part of life and that works of art are meant to be seen, the directors endeavor to make the gallery a center for all kinds of artistic expressions.
"Attitudes," the ninth show in the current series, reflected an eclectic selection of points of view of eight different artists, selected pretty much at random, but expressing collectively a coherent and stimulating cross-section of inspiration and statement, integrating the past, the present and the future in new and exciting ways.
Opening Saturday, March 11, 2006 with the artists' reception -- which always includes food -- this show featured works by the following folks:

On March 11, refreshments were served; the artists attended.
Gallery hours were from 2 to 4 pm daily March 11~18 and, after that, Saturdays only through June 10.
