University Center Gallery

Welcome to the Temple of the People!

The University Center Gallery is a spacious and lovely venue. Designed as an art gallery in the 1970's, it is situated in a grove of eucalyptus and pine trees in the town of Halcyon. It is owned and supported by The Temple of the People. Barbara Ricardo and Linda Rollison, gallery directors, were inspired to mount a series of shows of work by local artists, celebrating the tremendous fund of talent and skill that exists in SLO county and environs, and that is largely unknown and unseen. Agreeing that art is an essential part of life and that works of art are meant to be seen, the directors endeavor to make the gallery a center for all kinds of artistic expression.

A PATH TO GOD: THE ART OF ELWOOD DECKER opened Saturday, August 4, 2007, with an artist's reception, including refreshments, from 2-4 pm. This show was a retrospective of the art work of Elwood Decker.
Gallery hours were from 2 to 4 pm daily August 4-11 and, after that, Saturdays only through October 27. Oh, yes -- the University Center Gallery is at 3171 Temple Street, Halcyon.
